PALLET, MATERIAL, HANDLING
(WOOD, DOUBLE FACED, STRINGER CONSTRUCTION)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in preference to Federal Specification
NN-P-71, Types and III
This commercial item description covers new wood warehouse (general purpose) pallets of two-way and four-way (partial) entry, double face, stringer construction.
Salient characteristics.
The wood pallets shall be in accordance with the National Wooden Pallet and Container Association’s specifications, as specified below. When options are given by Association’s specifications and a pallet description does not specify options, then the manufacturer may furnish either option (grade, fastener’s entry, etc.).
1. Specifications for Softwood Plywood Pallets PP61-80, February 1980.
2. Specification and Grade for Warehouse, Permanent or returnable pallets of West Coast Woods, dated 1962 and amendments dated February 19, 1969, August 30, 1974, and August 24, 1977.
3. Specifications and Grades for Hardwood warehouse, permanent or returnable Pallets, dated 1962 and amendment dated August 24, 1977.
4. Specifications and Grades for warehouse, permanent or returnable pallets of Southern Pine, dated 1974 and amendment dated August 1977.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing, and marking. Packaging, packing, and marking shall be specified in the contract or order.
Note: Purchasers should specify the specification, group, styles, design, construction, grade, type, and wood class required.
