COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
RAMP, MOBILE, LIFT (DOCK)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
1. Intended use. This commercial item description covers of hydraulically operated, mobile ramp used to facilitate height adjustments between carriers and loading dock.
2. Salient characteristics.
2.1 Design and construction. The mobile loading ramp shall be rigidly constructed of steel. The ramp shall be hydraulically operated and be able to accommodate all over the road type freight vehicles for loading and unloading purposes. The ramp shall have a metal hand rail on each side and a safety chain on the front and rear ends. The platform shall be equipped with a 3 to 4 inch high toe guard on each side and shall have a skid-resistant raised steel pattern deck. The ramp shall have a safety device to prevent over running the platform by loading vehicles. The ramp shall be equipped with a stabilization jack and shall have two front fixed wheels and two rear swivel wheels with a minimum diameter of 6 inches. The ramp shall have a minimum load capacity of 8,000 pounds and shall be able to be raised to a maximum height of 58 inches and lowered to a height of 4 to 6 inches. The speed for raising the platform from minimum to maximum height shall be 8 to 12 seconds and the same for bringing it down. The motor, hydraulic lift cylinders, and the entire lifting system shall be completely waterproof. A technical manual and parts list shall be furnished with ramp. The manual shall provide installation instructions, proper usage, and maintenance guide lines.
2.2 Dimensions. The platform shall be approximately 70 inches wide by 95 inches long with attached hinged bridge and platform ramp of approximately 32 inches each in length. The overall approximate width shall be 95 inches and the length (less ramp) shall be 130 inches.
2.3 Electrical. The ramp shall have either a 7-1/2 or 10 horsepower motor, as specified (see 5.1), and shall operate on 240 volts, 60 Hertz, 3 phase power source in the United States and 380 volts, 50 Hertz, 3 phase power source overseas. The ramp shall be equipped with a minimum 20-foot electrical extension cord.
